Modric gets angry at his teammate after the match: You are the first responsible for the heavy loss
Real Madrid suffered a heavy defeat to Barcelona at the Bernabéu, losing by four goals to their rivals in a match likely to cast a shadow over various aspects within the team.
Though Real Madrid dominated the first half, they missed numerous clear scoring chances and repeatedly fell into the offside trap. According to reports from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional,” the course of the game might have changed if Mbappé had converted the chances he received.
The newspaper reported that Real Madrid star Luka Modric erupted in the locker room after the match, confronting French star Kylian Mbappé over his poor performance that night. Modric approached Mbappé and criticized him for squandering opportunities, telling him: “The difference between us and Barcelona is that they converted the chances they had; in contrast, you missed all the opportunities to bring us back into the match.”
The report noted that other Real Madrid players stepped in to defuse the tension between Modric and Mbappé, but the Croatian player continued to shout at his teammate, deeply frustrated with the disappointing performance against Barcelona.
The newspaper concluded that Modric’s anger stems from his belief that this performance gap with Barcelona could make it extremely difficult for Real Madrid to reclaim the top spot in the standings. Consequently, this match may be the final blow to Real Madrid’s hopes of challenging for the La Liga title.
