LIVERPOOL
BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool Star Who Left The Club In The Summer Is Set To Return To Anfield In January.

Arne Slot recently made a playful remark directed at Liverpool’s management regarding Ben Doak, who is currently on loan from Anfield at Middlesbrough. Doak moved to the Championship at the last minute during the summer transfer window, joining a number of Liverpool players sent out to gain experience. For the 18-year-old winger, this season provides valuable exposure to first-team football in a competitive setting. However, recent injuries to Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa have sparked concerns about Liverpool’s attacking depth.
In a press conference on Tuesday, ahead of the Carabao Cup clash with Brighton, Slot addressed Liverpool’s injury troubles and joked about the possibility of recalling Doak. “You see now, we’ve got six forwards, two of them are injured, so only four left,” Slot said with a grin. “With the schedule we have, that’s sometimes a bit of a worry for me. Maybe we should bring Ben Doak back!”
Although Slot’s comment was lighthearted, it highlighted Liverpool’s limited options at right wing. With Federico Chiesa recovering, Mo Salah remains Liverpool’s only natural choice for that position. Harvey Elliott, another potential option, typically shines as an attacking midfielder and has been managing injury concerns of his own. Jurgen Klopp might explore shifting players like Luis Diaz or Cody Gakpo to the right side if needed, giving Liverpool a backup plan should Salah be unavailable.
Realistically, recalling Doak from Middlesbrough is unlikely unless Liverpool’s injury situation becomes severe. The young Scot is gaining valuable playing time and experience in the Championship, where he’s adjusting to the physicality of senior football. Although Doak has shown flashes of promise, he’s scored only once in 518 minutes so far, indicating he’s still working on his consistency.
Keeping Doak at Middlesbrough will likely be more beneficial for his growth, allowing him to develop without the immediate pressures of Liverpool’s high-stakes lineup. The experience he’s gaining will better prepare him for a future at Anfield. In the meantime, Liverpool has sufficient attacking options to handle their upcoming fixtures, with Salah, Diaz, and Gakpo ready to cover the forward positions as needed.
