🔥🏟️‘I used to think I’m the fastest player here untill I went on relay races with him countless times and he beats me”- Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli admits there’s one Arsenal player who is faster than him and Mo Salah in the squad

Gabriel Martinelli is widely recognized as one of Arsenal’s fastest players, often showcasing his remarkable speed as the primary choice on the left wing. His rapid sprints down the flank set him apart, even as he competes with Leandro Trossard for the position. Despite Trossard’s abilities, Martinelli’s pace gives him a distinct advantage, making him a favored option for Mikel Arteta.

Interestingly, Martinelli recently mentioned that he might not actually be the fastest player in Arsenal’s squad, crediting that title to Kieran Tierney. In a recent interview with Arsenal Media, he stated, “I think Kieran Tierney is quicker than me to be fair! I think he’s the first one, and I’m the second.”

Since joining Arsenal in 2019, Tierney has struggled to secure consistent playing time under Arteta, despite his defensive skills and impressive speed, which could provide a valuable asset against teams that exploit Arsenal’s flanks.

However, Tierney has found himself on the sidelines, raising questions about his future at the club. With limited opportunities, many speculate that he may look for a move away from the Emirates, potentially seeking more regular playing time as early as January 2025.

While both Martinelli and Tierney are among the fastest players in the squad, Tierney’s limited appearances have hindered his ability to contribute fully within Arteta’s system. Should Tierney leave, Arsenal could miss out on a versatile defender with untapped speed, a quality that any club offering him consistent minutes would likely value.
