During his tenure at the Emirates, Arsenal has finished as league runners-up to Manchester City twice. In an interview before the current season, Edu expressed the importance of achieving success through ethical means.
On the Men in Blazers podcast in August, Edu stated, “Of course we want to win titles and bring trophies to this football club, but how we achieve that is what matters most to me. I want to compete internally and win in the best way possible. I want people to look at us and feel proud because we’re winning the right way.
“I’m not referring to anyone else; I’m focused on how we win, lose, or draw, and how we secure trophies. That makes a lot of sense to me. It doesn’t matter that we didn’t win a trophy last season; ask any Arsenal fan about their feelings toward us.
“It’s important that they feel proud of our efforts. In sports, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but the approach is what truly matters.”
