⚽️🗞 Dembele scenario is repeated again: The player refuses to renew his contract with Barça and is secretly negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain to leave for free

Barcelona is bracing for a repeat of the Ousmane Dembélé situation, as another key player in the squad is turning down all contract extension offers made by club management under Joan Laporta and Deco. This player is looking to leave the club for a favorable financial deal and join a team offering a higher salary, similar to what Dembélé did.

Despite lengthy negotiations for a new deal, Dembélé rejected Barcelona’s offers, taking advantage of a €50 million release clause to move to Paris Saint-Germain. There, he was promised a lucrative salary by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and manager Luis Enrique convinced him to make the move, causing a stir and negatively impacting Barcelona.

Now, according to *El Nacional*, the same scenario may unfold with Frenkie de Jong. His contract runs until 2026, and he is the club’s highest-paid player. Initially, he was expected to agree to an extension with a pay cut, but he has firmly rejected that proposal.

This situation is becoming a significant concern for Barcelona, with suspicions that De Jong may already be in talks with other clubs and possibly has a verbal agreement in place. Laporta and Deco are keen to avoid another free transfer, which would echo one of the club’s worst deals, especially since they paid over €85 million for him from Ajax just five years ago.

Paris Saint-Germain, who benefited from Dembélé’s departure, are closely following De Jong’s situation. The player knows that a free transfer would secure him a higher salary and a large signing bonus, and Al-Khelaifi could be positioned to once again capitalize on Barcelona’s predicament, as he has done before with Neymar and Messi.
