⚽️🗞 We Realize Now That Letting Such A Talent Slip Through Our Fingers Would Be A Mistake. He’s An Exceptional Player That Is Said To Be Like Cole Palmer, And We’re Ready To Make Him As Soon As January” — Chelsea Are Reportedly Pursuing A Move For A Gifted Midfielder Who Was Previously Released By Manchester City.
Chelsea may still strengthen their midfield despite already having a robust core of talent.
Currently, the Blues boast midfield stars like Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. This season, Caicedo has been especially impressive, with some, including Frank Leboeuf, comparing his impact to that of Rodri.
However, reports suggest that Chelsea could still be in the market for another midfielder next year.
Chelsea Linked with Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha
According to Bild, Chelsea is among several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Newcastle United, tracking Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha. A move for the 24-year-old would mark a return to English football, as Nmecha was previously with Manchester City before joining Wolfsburg on a free transfer in 2021.
The German international, now playing for Dortmund, has been praised for his versatility. Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin described Nmecha as having an “exceptional profile” capable of playing multiple midfield roles, including number six, eight, and ten positions.
Competition in Chelsea’s Midfield
While Nmecha could be a valuable addition, breaking into Chelsea’s current midfield might prove challenging. With Caicedo, Fernandez, and Lavia in top form, even players like Dewsbury-Hall struggle for consistent minutes.
Chelsea’s interest in young talent like Lille’s 17-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi shows the club is also planning for the future. However, any move for Nmecha would likely hinge on whether he is willing to risk less game time at Stamford Bridge for the chance to compete in the Premier League again.
For now, Chelsea fans will watch closely to see if this rumored transfer gains momentum.
