Mohamed Salah, who is currently ranked fourth on Liverpool’s all-time goal-scoring list, is set to become a free agent this summer, and his contract situation has been a topic of much discussion recently.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, the Egyptian forward has kept his focus on his performances, scoring 20 goals and playing a key role in Liverpool’s rise to the top of both the Premier League and the Champions League.

In November, Salah confirmed that the club had not yet made him an offer, and he reiterated last month that there had been no updates on his contract. Ahead of Liverpool’s match against Manchester United at Anfield, Salah spoke to Patrick Davison of Sky Sports and mentioned that it could be his “last year in the club.”

When asked to clarify this statement, Salah responded, “So far? Yes. With six months left, there has been no progress, and we’re far from reaching any agreement. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Reports from Foot Mercato suggest that Paris Saint-Germain is closely monitoring Salah’s situation, with his representatives reportedly in “ongoing talks” with the French club. While there is interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, the report notes that “no club has taken any definitive action” to bring him to the Middle East.

Salah’s main goal, however, remains to extend his contract with Liverpool and “continue his journey” in the Premier League. It is suggested that he is frustrated by the lack of progress, and his decision to publicly address his situation may be a tactic to apply pressure on both the club and his representatives.

Despite the contract uncertainty, Salah, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is expected to leave Liverpool. However, the Egyptian forward is determined to stay focused on his performances on the pitch.

Salah has continued to be one of the standout players in the Premier League this season, maintaining a high level of consistency. When asked how he stays focused amid the contract discussions, he said, “What I tell myself is, if these are the last six months, what do you want your future to look like? Do you want to look back and say you were worried or stressed about the contract, or do you want to say you had an amazing season? That’s what keeps me focused. If I ever feel distracted, I remind myself that I want to look back and say I had an incredible season. That’s my goal.”
