Darwin Nunez to agree sensational Newcastle swap deal? – pundit stunned

Newcastle United will “absolutely not” pursue a move for Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez in the January transfer window, despite recent reports suggesting otherwise. Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, emphasized that the 25-year-old is not being considered as a replacement for Alexander Isak. Robinson added that he would be “stunned” if such a deal materialized.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have no plans to sell any players during the January window, as they aim to stay competitive across all four competitions. Newcastle, facing financial constraints and balancing Financial Fair Play (FFP) and Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), are unlikely to make any major expenditures this month.
Speculation regarding Isak’s potential departure from St James’ Park has persisted, but Robinson firmly dismissed the idea of Newcastle entertaining offers for their star striker. Instead, the club is reportedly focused on signing a new forward to complement Isak rather than replace him.
Addressing the rumors, Robinson stated: “Not in the winter, no, absolutely not in the January window. You’re not going to swap Isak with Darwin Nunez when Isak is one of the most in-form strikers in Europe at the moment. Newcastle are going to be linked with players, but it’s a fine line for them when you consider their situation with FFP and PSR.”
Robinson also acknowledged the challenges Newcastle faces with Callum Wilson, citing concerns over his fitness, age, and contract situation. However, he reiterated that replacing Isak with Nunez is not part of Newcastle’s plans.
