Fans single out one Man Utd star and demand Ruben Amorim drops him despite Liverpool draw

Manchester United fans have urged Ruben Amorim to drop a specific player following the 2-2 draw against Liverpool. Despite an encouraging performance overall, supporters expressed dissatisfaction with Matthijs de Ligt’s display, particularly his role in key moments of the match.
United started strongly in the first half and created several opportunities to take the lead at Anfield. Their breakthrough came in the 52nd minute when Lisandro Martinez unexpectedly ventured into the Liverpool penalty area and unleashed a powerful left-footed strike that hit the crossbar and went in.
However, the lead was short-lived as Cody Gakpo equalized six minutes later with a stunning right-footed curling shot. The match took another turn when De Ligt conceded a penalty for handball in the 70th minute. Mohamed Salah converted the spot-kick with precision, curling the ball into the bottom left corner past Andre Onana.
De Ligt, who had already been booked in the 64th minute, came under fire for his performance.
Fans criticized his involvement in Liverpool’s first goal and the penalty incident. One fan commented, “De Ligt has thrown this away for Manchester United. A game to forget.”
Another added, “I always hate handball penalties, but De Ligt, man, what are you doing?” Others echoed similar sentiments, with one stating, “Complete control of the game and it’s all undone by De Ligt in two instances,” and another demanding, “De Ligt needs to get dropped, how dare he.”

Despite the criticism, United managed to salvage a point through Amad Diallo, who scored a composed low finish into the bottom corner. However, De Ligt’s errors overshadowed the result for many fans.
United nearly claimed victory in the dying moments when Joshua Zirkzee set up Harry Maguire for a chance from 12 yards out. Unfortunately, the ball bobbled before Maguire’s shot, and he sent it over the crossbar.
While the draw showcased promising aspects of Amorim’s team, De Ligt’s performance has left fans calling for changes ahead of the next fixture.
