Roberto Carlos evicted from his home: where has his 160 million euro fortune gone?

Legend and ambassador of Real Madrid, Roberto Carlos is going through a dark period in his life. Despite an estimated fortune of 160 million euros, the former left-back is currently sleeping at the Real Madrid training ground. What is really going on?

At Real Madrid, the name Roberto Carlos resonates as one of the most respected personalities. After eleven years at the club (between 1996 and 2007, 527 matches, and 68 goals), the man with the steel left foot who tortured goalkeepers with his monstrous strikes has held an ambassadorial role since his retirement in 2015. Now aged 51, the former Brazilian international is going through a complicated period in his personal life, which could cause him to lose a large portion of his fortune, estimated at around 160 million euros, in London.

What is really going on with Roberto Carlos?

As attention is focused on Real Madrid’s big challenges in 2025, the Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo reports that Roberto Carlos is in the midst of a very complicated divorce process. Married to his wife Mariana Luccon, a physiotherapist whom he wed in 2009, the former defender is ending their 15-year union. Despite his large fortune, the Madrid legend is currently living at the Real Madrid training ground. Forced to leave the home where his wife Luccon currently resides, the former Palmeiras player has no home of his own at the moment.

Indeed, the other property where he was supposed to stay while the divorce process is finalised is occupied by his in-laws (his wife’s parents). Facing this complex situation, one of the rooms where Real Madrid players stay has offered its hospitality to the Brazilian star, who is at risk of losing a significant part of his immense 160 million euro fortune. It should be noted that Carlos’s now ex-wife has her name on several properties, which allows her to walk away with a substantial portion of his fortune.

The man with multiple children from different mothers

Currently temporarily housed in Valdebebas, the 2002 World Cup champion, who has two children (Manuela, born in 2010, and Mariana, born in 2017) with Mariana Luccon, will have to cross his fingers to avoid ending up like some big names in football who didn’t manage their careers well. A father of eleven children by seven different mothers, Roberto Carlos will have to adjust to a new life. He admitted not long ago on the show El Chiringuito TV with Josep Pedrerol that he has seven children in Brazil, one in Mexico, one in Hungary, one who lives in Alicante, and the others in Brazil, all of whom he supports.

If his situation isn’t catastrophic yet, one must fear the worst, especially if his now ex-wife, with whom he has two daughters, takes a significant part of his fortune. Currently focused on his role as Real Madrid’s ambassador, Carlos can still rely on substantial support from Florentino Pérez.
