It was a chaotic match which ultimately ended with both sides taking home a point apiece – but it was also a history-making encounter.
David Brooks committed a foul on Marc Cucurella, with VAR checking the decision as with any potential red card offences.
The VAR official decided to recommend an on-field review, with referee Rob Jones going over to the VAR monitor to check the incident again.
However, Jones decided to reject the red card review, and instead deemed that the foul was worthy of a yellow card for a reckless action, rather than violent conduct.
ESPN’s Dale Johnson reports that this is the first time in Premier League history that a referee has rejected a red card review at the VAR monitor.
