Liverpool fans blame Arne Slot for ‘shocking decision’ he made against Nottingham Forest that ‘cost them the win’

Arne Slot’s Liverpool had to settle for a draw against Nottingham Forest after battling back from an early deficit. Forest, the surprise package of the Premier League season, took the lead just eight minutes in through Chris Wood, who capitalized on a defensive lapse from Liverpool.
Despite a spirited performance from goalkeeper Matz Sels, Liverpool managed to equalize in the 75th minute when substitute Diogo Jota scored from a corner. Jota, initially left on the bench as Slot opted to deploy Luis Díaz as the central striker, made an immediate impact just seconds after coming on, linking up with fellow substitute Kostas Tsimikas.
Díaz struggled in the unfamiliar striker role, managing just one shot during his 75-minute stint. His lack of impact drew criticism from fans, many of whom voiced their frustrations on social media. One fan wrote, “Desperate for a striker. As much as I like Díaz up front, we really need a focal point. A proper striker.” Another added, “Luis Díaz is not a striker btw, stop playing him there.”

Calls for Jota to start were loud and clear, with one supporter saying, “Jota needs to start every game he physically can, Díaz as a striker doesn’t work majority of the time.” Another fan quipped, “If Díaz plays striker again I am going to put my head through a wall. Start Jota or Danns instead. That experiment was dead on arrival.”
Despite the dropped points, Liverpool still hold a comfortable lead in the Premier League standings. They sit six points clear of Forest and maintain a game in hand, keeping them firmly in control of the title race. However, the match highlighted the team’s need for a consistent presence up front, and it remains to be seen whether Slot will adjust his approach in future games.
