Turki Al Alshikh sent Liverpool fans into meltdown with a shock Mohamed Salah-related social media post on Wednesday morning.

Salah, 32, is in fine form, having registered 21 goals and 17 assists in 29 appearances this term. His contributions have helped Liverpool to the top of both the Premier League and the 36-team Champions League group phase.

However, his future is uncertain with his Liverpool contract set to expire in June 2025.

The Egyptian has been fairly open regarding his situation, explaining how he was “more out than in” when speaking to journalists gathered outside St Mary’s in November.

Salah has expressed how it will be his “last year” at Liverpool, explaining in September that “nobody has talked to me” about a new contract.

“It’s the last six months,” Salah said when speaking to Sky Sports following Liverpool’s 5-0 win against West Ham.

“There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress.

“So, we just need to wait and see.”

Of course, as the season nears its close in the coming months we will no doubt get a clearer picture of where Salah’s future lies.

But on Wednesday, Turki Al Alshikh posted a bizarre image of Salah wearing an Al Hilal shirt, and as you may expect, fans were quick to give their thoughts on social media.

One said: “Don’t give me hope.”

Another added: “That why he ghosted last night.”

A third explained: “Why are people so upset? Imagine that you get £22m a week.”

While a fourth commented: “Sad news.”

Of course, in the summer of 2023, Liverpool rejected a bid of £150m from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad but no agreement was reached on that occasion.

However, with Salah set to see his current contract expire in June, such an astronomical fee will not be needed if Al Hilal are to sign the player. The forward is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs now that the January transfer window is open.

If Salah were to join the club he would become teammates with the likes of Neymar, Ruben Neves, Joao Cancelo, Aleksander Mitrovic and Kalidou Koulibaly.
