š„š¢Man Utd set to launch bid for Ā£40m star who rejected them under Erik ten Hag

Manchester United have reignited their interest in a £40million star who previously turned down the chance to move to Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim appears to have steadied the ship at United, following a tricky start to life in the Premier League.
United followed their impressive performance at Anfield with a strong showing in the FA Cup against Arsenal, which saw Amorim’s side progress on penalties despite being down to 10 men.
Despite the transfer window being open, it is unlikely to be a busy month for United unless players are offloaded as the club ‘desperately’ try to generate income to comply with profit and sustainability rules.
Man United’s PSR situation
Speaking on The Athleticās podcast, transfer expert David Ornstein explained the situation at Old Trafford.
āThe way it has been explained to me is that Manchester United are going to be OK on PSR this month,ā he said.
āItās not like the walls are collapsing on their financial situation ā itās not great, clearly, theyāve got work to do. But I do think there is a bit of scope to do something [in the January window].ā
United reignite interest in Suzuki
According to talkSPORT, United are in the market this month and are one of the clubs ‘eyeing up’ Palma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who was close to joining the club in the summer of 2023.
United were heavily linked with the goalkeeper during his time at Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds, but the now 22-year-old rejected the move as he didn’t want to be second choice to Andre Onana.

Suzuki joined Palma for Ā£8.5m in 2024 and his performances in Serie A have put the Japanese star back on United’s radar.
Palma hopes to keep Suzuki for the time being, due to how integral he has become for manager Fabio Pecchia and have responded to interest by slapping a £40 million price tag on the youngster.
With United’s current financial issues, those kinds of figures are likely to price out Amorim of a move this January.
However, United may not be too upset about missing out on Suzuki for a second time following current backup Altay Bayindir’s man-of-the-match performance in the FA Cup.

It will be amazing if he joins me here at Stamford Bridge. Even though it seems highly unlikely, it wonāt kill me to try to convince him to join me here.
