Manchester United has reportedly identified Zinedine Zidane as a potential managerial target, according to *The Mirror*. This development comes as the club endures a challenging season, currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table.

Previously, United had been linked with Thomas Tuchel, but the German manager chose to take on the role of England national team manager. Tuchel was a strong candidate during the summer when Erik ten Hag faced mounting pressure, but the club ultimately decided to stick with the Dutchman after talks with Tuchel failed to progress.

With United’s struggles continuing, Zidane has emerged as a potential solution. The Frenchman, widely regarded as one of the finest managers in world football, boasts an illustrious track record, including two La Liga titles and three Champions League victories with Real Madrid. Currently unattached, Zidane might view a move to Old Trafford as the perfect opportunity to return to management.

United’s disappointing start to the season, with just three wins in their opening ten matches across all competitions, has raised questions about Ten Hag’s future. This poor form is especially frustrating considering the club’s significant summer investment in new players. Upcoming games against Brentford in the Premier League and Fenerbahce in the Europa League are seen as critical in determining Ten Hag’s fate.

Despite missing out on Tuchel, Manchester United still has access to some of football’s top managerial talent. Zidane’s tactical expertise, leadership qualities, and global reputation make him a prime contender. The report also suggests Ruud van Nistelrooy, currently serving as an assistant at United, and former England manager Gareth Southgate are being considered as alternative options.

The club’s struggles have been exacerbated by injuries, with Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire confirmed to be sidelined for several weeks. These setbacks add to the challenges Ten Hag faces as he attempts to steer the team back on track.

The prospect of Zidane taking charge has sparked excitement among fans who believe his stature and experience could help restore United to its former glory. However, the speculation surrounding new managerial appointments only adds to the pressure on Ten Hag, who is tasked with stabilizing a faltering team amid a turbulent season.
