Kylian Mbappé finally reveals what he needs to shine in Madrid: “I need it”

In a press conference ahead of the seventh matchday of the Champions League against RB Salzburg, Kylian Mbappé made some significant revelations.
Currently 20th in the Champions League qualification phase, Real Madrid must win this Wednesday to stay in the race. After the hard-fought 3-2 victory against Atalanta Bergamasca on 10 December, Carlo Ancelotti’s team must confirm their good form at the start of 2025. Very committed to succeeding at his new club, Kylian Mbappé, who remains a credible candidate for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, attended the press conference on Tuesday to discuss his recent developments. Outshining his coach in the pre-match Q&A session, the French star revealed what helps him perform at his best.

Kylian Mbappé finally reveals what he needs to shine in Madrid: “I need it”
Much sharper in recent weeks, Kylian Mbappé attributes his current great form, with goals and top-class performances, to the pressure from the club’s supporters. “I need the pressure of feeling that you always have to perform. It’s normal for people to boo. If you play for Madrid, you must win every game and make sure all Madridistas are happy,” said the top scorer for Real Madrid this season (18 goals).
Highly anticipated at his new club, the France captain promises goals and performances to meet the expectations. Contrary to some Spanish football observers who criticised his shyness earlier in the season, Mbappé clarified the situation. “I’m not shy, but when you join a team like Real Madrid, which has won everything, has won the Champions League, I can’t come here on the first day and say, ‘Hey, pass me the ball, this is my team, and my goal is to score as many goals as possible.’” A solid clarification.

Having now come out of his adaptation period, KM9 can truly bring offensive success to Real Madrid in the second half of the season. With the Champions League, which he has never won, Mbappé will do everything in his power to go far in the competition this season. He also has great confidence in his teammates. “I trust in my game, in the team’s game, and in all the Real Madrid supporters who will be with us tomorrow (against Salzburg).” The appointment is set!
