Another priority for Liverpool is extending Ibrahima Konaté’s contract, as the French defender’s current deal expires next summer. Konaté recently revealed to Fabrizio Romano that Liverpool had offered him a contract extension but gave no indication of an imminent agreement, stating:
“It’s true, I’ve been offered a new contract by Liverpool. Am I close to signing it? That’s another conversation!”
Since joining Liverpool in 2021 from RB Leipzig for £36 million, Konaté has become a cornerstone of the defence alongside Van Dijk. The 25-year-old has played 22 games this season, contributing two goals and an assist. His absence earlier in the season due to a knee injury highlighted his importance, with the team struggling defensively during his eight-game absence.
Amid these negotiations, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid, while Mohamed Salah, who has expressed a desire to stay, is rumored to be a target for Saudi Arabian clubs.
