The news that Lionel Messi might return to Europe, but not to Barcelona, has caused a stir. Inter Miami appears willing to allow the Argentine superstar to play for a European club in the early months of 2025, which could be beneficial for his preparation for the 2026 World Cup with Argentina. Messiās contract with Miami is likely to be renewed, and it could include the option to play in Europe again before the World Cup.
However, it seems that a reunion with Barcelona is not on the cards. Instead, the door seems open for a move to Manchester City, where Messi could reunite with his former Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola.
