Where’s He Going?! – Jamie Carragher Slams Jadon Sancho for Defensive Lapse in Chelsea’s Humiliating Defeat”

Jadon Sancho had a night to forget as Chelsea suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Brighton on Friday. The on-loan Manchester United winger came on early in the game after Noni Madueke picked up an injury, but he failed to make any positive impact.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher was left frustrated with Sancho’s lack of effort, especially in defense, and he did not hold back in his criticism.
Chelsea struggled throughout the match and failed to register a single shot on target. However, what annoyed Carragher the most was Sancho’s failure to track back when Brighton scored their third goal.
With Chelsea already 2-0 down, Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh made a run into the box, but Sancho failed to follow him. Minteh easily broke past Sancho and fired the ball into the net, sealing Chelsea’s embarrassing defeat.
Watching from the Sky Sports commentary box, Carragher was furious with what he saw. He called out Sancho’s poor defensive effort, saying:
“Just see Sancho with Minteh at the top of your picture, the one-two and just watch Sancho. I mean, where’s he going?! The intensity on that side from Cucurella and Sancho was awful. This is a bad, bad night for Enzo Maresca and Chelsea.”
After Carragher’s comments, fans on social media were quick to criticize Sancho. Many United supporters felt vindicated about the club’s decision to move him on, as they had seen similar performances from him at Old Trafford.
One fan wrote: “Carragher pulls no punches! Is this déjà vu for Sancho?”
Another added: “He’s just completely gone AWOL, lost his man and that man had made it 3-0. Carragher sums it up perfectly.”
A third joked: “Sancho was enjoying plenty of ‘freedom’ there as he let Minteh run away from him.”
Sancho had already frustrated Manchester United fans earlier this week when he posted a message saying “Freedom” after his former teammate Marcus Rashford left United on loan to Aston Villa. Some took it as a dig at the club, suggesting Sancho felt restricted during his time at Old Trafford.
However, performances like the one against Brighton only add to the doubts surrounding him. If he wants to revive his career, Sancho will have to show much more effort on the pitch—something Carragher and many fans clearly feel is missing right now.
