Liverpool are reportedly considering parting ways with Darwin Nunez at the end of the season and have identified possible replacements. The club has previously been linked with Brighton’s Joao Pedro as a potential successor to the Uruguayan forward at Anfield.

With the campaign nearing its conclusion, Arne Slot’s side is assessing different options and exploring the market to strengthen their attacking line. According to reports from Caught Offside, the Premier League leaders are eyeing Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as a prime target. The Swedish international has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 17 goals in the league, providing five assists, and adding two goals in the Carabao Cup, helping Newcastle reach the final. His standout performances have drawn attention from elite clubs across Europe.

Sources indicate that Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all keen on reinforcing their attacks and are keeping a close watch on Isak’s situation. However, securing his transfer could prove difficult due to Newcastle’s stance. Eddie Howe’s side is keen on extending Isak’s contract until 2030/2031, offering him a pay raise as a reward for his continued excellence.

For Liverpool to land Isak, they would need to break their transfer record. Reports suggest Newcastle might only consider offers between €150-€170 million if Isak declines a new deal. Such a high valuation could be beyond Liverpool’s financial reach, given their recent cautious approach in the transfer market. As a result, the club may turn to alternative targets, with Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram emerging as another option to replace Nunez.

Alongside attacking reinforcements, Liverpool is also looking to strengthen their defense. Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven is reportedly on their radar as they seek to bolster their backline.

With the transfer window approaching, Liverpool’s recruitment strategy will likely involve balancing their ambitions with financial prudence, carefully evaluating their options in both attack and defense.
