Spanish club Barcelona continues to be interested in signing the star of its counterpart and compatriot, Las Palmas, Alberto Molero, in the coming period, according to information reported by the Spanish newspaper “Sport.”
The Canary team did not renew its contract with Molero, which runs until June 2026, and the player will enter the final six months of his contract next January.
The newspaper added that Las Palmas will be forced to sell the player’s contract at the end of the current season, fearing the possibility of his departure for free, in light of the non-renewal of the agreement between the two parties so far.
Barcelona is relying on the relationship between the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Joan Laporta, and the President of Las Palmas, Angel Ramirez, to finalize the deal, and the Catalan club may take advantage of the two teams’ match this evening in Gran Canaria to discuss the player and his future.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been with Las Palmas since July 2021 and is currently valued at around €25m, although his market value could drop by the end of the season due to having only one year left on his contract with the club. The newspaper reported that German coach Hansi Flick has given the green light to the team’s management to sign the player, whom he described as the “new Pedri,” to join the team next summer.
