Liverpool’s Chase for Rayan Ait-Nouri Could Be Hindered by Man City’s Transfer Strategy

Liverpool have held a long-term interest in Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, but their pursuit may be complicated by Manchester City’s move for another top defender.

As per Empire of the Kop, Ait-Nouri is Liverpool’s top choice for a new left-back, with Manchester United also recently linked to the 23-year-old.

Reports suggest the Reds have been tracking him for months and are likely to make him a primary summer target under Arne Slot.

However, TeamTalk reports that Pep Guardiola is eager to sign AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez to bolster City’s backline. Should that deal go through, Milan might then turn their focus to Ait-Nouri, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The exact fee Wolves would demand for the Algerian remains uncertain, but a possible drop to the Championship could force them to lower their valuation.

Ait-Nouri has delivered an impressive campaign, recording three goals and five assists in 26 Premier League matches, making him a highly desirable target.

Despite their admiration, Liverpool are unlikely to engage in a bidding war. Under Fenway Sports Group’s ownership, the club has adhered to a strict policy against overpaying for transfers.

If Wolves are open to a fair deal, Liverpool may proceed with their pursuit. Otherwise, they are expected to shift their focus to other options.
