Live from Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid superstar to leave Santiago bernabéu for Liverpool if they win the premier League

Liverpool have received approval for an audacious move for Rodrygo, with Real Madrid willing to part ways with the star forward.
The Reds have maintained a quiet approach in the transfer market. Following the addition of just one senior signing in the summer—Federico Chiesa—Arne Slot has once again refrained from making big moves, focusing instead on stability rather than marquee acquisitions.
This strategy has not hindered them. Liverpool currently lead the league, sitting six points ahead of Arsenal with a game in hand, while also topping the league phase in the Champions League.
The club remains engaged in securing a contract extension for Mohamed Salah, whose outstanding performances this season have made him the 3/1 favorite to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or. However, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, renewing Salah’s deal does not rule out Liverpool signing a successor.
“In an ideal world, Liverpool renew Van Dijk and Salah, while simultaneously in 2025 looking to replace them,” Jacobs stated on January 13. “It means that the player may extend and have between one and three years at the club, whilst their younger replacement acclimatises, and then it makes the transition much more seamless.”
If Liverpool were to secure Rodrygo, though, they might not require a prolonged adaptation period. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid have always viewed the Brazilian as playing a “fundamental role” at the Bernabeu, but “the situation could change” if bids arrive in the summer.
The report mentions Saudi Arabian interest in the 24-year-old, with a potential offer of €200 million. Los Blancos anticipate further interest in the coming months.
Spanish sources Cadena Ser and Sport (via Sport Witness) previously confirmed that Rodrygo and Liverpool have had initial discussions about a possible transfer to Anfield, likely as a contingency plan should Salah not extend his deal.
With the 32-year-old’s future still uncertain and only three months left in the season, Liverpool may revisit the pursuit of Rodrygo this summer if Salah departs. There is even the possibility that the Real Madrid winger could integrate into the team alongside Salah, given that Rodrygo originally played as a left-winger before transitioning to the right flank in Spain.
