Jaydan Kamason has emerged as an unexpected contender to take over Amad’s role in Manchester United’s first team.

Kamason Shines in FA Youth Cup Thriller

Manchester United U18s secured a dramatic 3-2 extra-time win over Arsenal to reach the FA Youth Cup semi-finals, with Kamason putting in a standout performance that has sparked speculation about his future with the senior team.

United opened the scoring with a stunning long-range goal from Jack Fletcher, but Arsenal equalized just before halftime thanks to Louie Copley’s clever lob over Tom Myles. In the second half, Arsenal’s Max Dowman converted a penalty to put them ahead, but United fought back. Kamason’s brilliant late strike took the game into extra time, and substitute Bendito Mantato sealed the win with a close-range finish. Arsenal’s chances were further dented when their captain, Will Sweet, was sent off in the final moments.

Coach Adam Lawrence Hails Kamason’s Performance

After the match, U18s manager Adam Lawrence praised Kamason’s performance, telling the Manchester Evening News that the young defender was one of United’s standout players.

“Jaydan has been in fantastic form, producing strong and consistent performances, which is what you’d expect from a second-year U18 player. He’s an amazing athlete, loves to get forward, and that goal will be a special memory for him,” Lawrence said.

He also emphasized Kamason’s work ethic and development:

“There’s no shortcut to success—it’s all about consistent practice. He’s always been an attack-minded full-back, and his final delivery has improved significantly. His athleticism and relentless energy allow him to make a real impact in the final third.”

Could Kamason Replace Amad?

With Amad Diallo out for the remainder of the season, Manchester United has struggled to replace his attacking presence, particularly in the right wing-back role. Diogo Dalot has stepped in, but many fans feel the team lacks a dynamic option.

While Joshua Zirkzee has occasionally filled in on the right, Kamason’s attacking instincts and energy make him an exciting alternative. His performance against Arsenal demonstrated his ability to push forward effectively—something Amad excelled at before his injury.

Although Kamason has yet to make his senior debut, his raw talent and attacking mindset could offer manager Amorim an unexpected solution. Given Lawrence’s praise for his attacking qualities, it wouldn’t be surprising if Kamason emerges as a wildcard option for the first team. He may not be a direct replacement for Amad, but his ability to add an offensive threat from right wing-back could prove valuable for United.
