Real Madrid’s Italian manager, Carlo Ancelotti, made the surprising decision to substitute star player Kylian Mbappe after just 75 minutes of play in their recent match against Real Betis. The French forward’s performance had been lackluster, and Ancelotti felt it was necessary to make a change.
According to Ancelotti, Mbappe’s subpar showing was due in part to a lingering tooth issue that had hindered his training. As a result, Mbappe wasn’t able to perform at his usual high level, prompting Ancelotti to bring in Endrick, a young player who has been in impressive form lately.
Ancelotti explained his decision, stating, “Substituting Mbappe so early? He had this problem with his tooth. He hasn’t trained much, and he wasn’t at his best. I preferred to take him off and bring on Endrick, who is in good form.”
The loss to Real Betis was a disappointing setback for Real Madrid, who had been playing well in recent matches. Ancelotti acknowledged that his team’s performance was not up to par, saying, “We hope this game will wake us up for the next one. It seemed like we were more organized and cohesive recently, but today we couldn’t do it like in previous games.”
With this defeat, Real Madrid risks slipping to third place in La Liga by the end of the week. Ancelotti will be looking for his team to bounce back strongly in their next match and regain their momentum in the league.
