Arsenal is preparing an ‘initial offer’ to acquire the £87 million star ahead of Liverpool, according to reports.

As reported by Caught Offside, Arsenal is set to make an opening bid of £69 million for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, amid interest from Premier League competitors Liverpool.

The Gunners have had a successful summer transfer window, having already signed Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard.

Additionally, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera are expected to join the team soon.

Caught Offside reports that Arsenal is considering a formal offer of £69 million for Rodrygo, whose future at Madrid appears uncertain, especially after being a regular unused substitute during the Club World Cup.

Rodrygo is getting closer to leaving Los Blancos after losing favor with new head coach Xabi Alonso. He may be heading to the Premier League, with strong interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool.

Real Madrid reportedly values their star player at approximately £87 million, but Arsenal is prepared to challenge that valuation with a £69 million offer.

It is suggested that the La Liga club is unlikely to accept such a bid.

Top-class

The Brazilian international has been an outstanding performer for the La Liga team, contributing to 25 goals in the recent season.

Of those, he had 12 goal involvements in as many matches while playing on the left wing.

Rodrygo clearly prefers to operate from the left side, but due to Vinicius’ presence, he has spent most of his time on the opposite flank.

The forward might be inclined to leave if he is assured of playing time in his favored position.

At Arsenal, he could become a key player on the left wing, surpassing Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, who have shown inconsistency.

Rodrygo is an excellent dribbler with strong ball control, having completed 91% of his passes in La Liga last season.

This distinguishes him from the Gunners pair. He is also effective in scoring and does not waste significant opportunities.

At £69m, he would still represent a great value acquisition as he is just beginning the peak of his career. Madrid will undoubtedly seek a higher price for him.

With new competition from Liverpool, Arsenal may need to accelerate their efforts to recover funds from player sales in the upcoming days to ensure they can finalize a deal for Rodrygo before the current Premier League champions
