🚨🏟 Real Madrid reportedly scouting 16-year-old Mexican wonderkid

Real Madrid Eye Mexico’s Teenage Sensation Gilberto Mora
Mexico may have just unveiled its next superstar. Gilberto Mora, only 16, has been lighting up Liga MX with Club Tijuana and already earned a senior national team call-up under Javier Aguirre. Now, whispers out of Spain suggest that one of Europe’s biggest giants, Real Madrid, could be circling.
Madrid’s Interest — But a Big Obstacle
According to Cruz Azul insider Ike Carrera, Mora has landed on Real Madrid’s scouting radar. The catch? FIFA rules.
“Sources: Real Madrid is scouting 16-year-old Gilberto Mora, and a potential future pre-agreement with Xolos is possible. Under FIFA rules, any international transfer can only occur when the player turns 18, so the scenario would involve a deferred registration,” Carrera reported.
That means if Madrid truly intend to sign him, the deal would have to mirror past pre-contract arrangements — like the one that brought Franco Mastantuono to Spain.
How Realistic Is the Move?
As of now, there’s no confirmation from leading transfer insiders like César Luis Merlo or Fabrizio Romano. Without their stamp, the link remains speculation rather than certainty. Still, Madrid’s history of snapping up South American prodigies — from Vinícius Jr. to Endrick — gives weight to the possibility.
Mora’s Market Value Rising
At just 16, Mora’s value already sits around $3.49m (€3m) on Transfermarkt. His stock is climbing thanks to:
- 3 goals in 6 matches in the Apertura 2025 tournament.
- 2 goals in the Leagues Cup, showing he can deliver against MLS opposition.
- A senior Mexico national team call-up, rare for his age.
The Bigger Picture
For now, Mora remains a Tijuana starlet with the world at his feet. If Real Madrid formalize their interest, he could join the long line of Latin American wonderkids who became Bernabéu legends. But until then, the Madrid links are just that — links.
One thing is clear: Gilberto Mora is no longer just Mexico’s secret. He’s on the global radar
