ARSENAL
I’m a very strong player and everyone around me knows that, but what the doctor told about my injury yesterday made shed tears”: Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes finally reveals what made his cried mercilessly yesterday
Arsenal have been handed two fresh injury scares ahead of the north London derby.
The Gunners face Tottenham at Emirates Stadium on Sunday and Mikel Arteta is sweating over the fitness of Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori, as well as Viktor Gyokeres.
Arteta could have some key players back to face Spurs but the absence of Gabriel and Calafiori would be a major blow for the Premier League leaders, given they have been a key part of the defence that has conceded just five goals in 11 games.
Arsenal have some big games on the horizon, with Bayern Munich in the Champions League and then Chelsea to come after the Spurs game.
With that in mind, here is all the latest Arsenal injury news and potential return dates…
Gabriel
Gabriel limped out of Brazil’s friendly win over Senegal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, in a major injury blow for Arsenal.
The centre-back went down in the second half and received treatment to his right thigh before being substituted.
Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti initially said Gabriel had suffered an adductor injury but scans confirmed he sustained a knee injury.
In a statement on Sunday, the Brazilian Football Confederation said: “Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhaes was re-evaluated this Sunday and underwent imaging tests that revealed a muscle injury in his right knee.”
Gabriel has been a key player for Arsenal at both ends of the pitch this season and losing him would be a huge blow.
He has returned to Arsenal to be assessed and Arteta will provide an update on Gabriel and the Arsenal injury situation when he holds his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Potential return date: Unknown
Riccardo Calafiori
The injury to Gabriel came hours after Riccardo Calafiori withdrew from the Italy squad due to a hip issue.
Calafiori was named in the Italy squad dispute struggling with an injury, with their manager Gennaro Gattuso hoping the left-sided defender would be fit for their final World Cup qualifier with Norway on Sunday.
But Calafiori left the Italy camp on Saturday to return to Arsenal.
But Calafiori left the Italy camp on Saturday to return to Arsenal.
“He tried to be available but he can’t force now,” said Gattuso.
It has been reported in Italy that Arsenal are “not anticipating a big problem or issue”.
Potential return date: November 23, 2025 vs Tottenham (h)
Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal have been sweating on the fitness of Viktor Gyokeres since he suffered a hamstring injury at Burnley on November 1.
Gyokeres missed games against Slavia Prague and Sunderland before the international break and was not included in the Sweden squad.
Arteta said before the international break that Arsenal were still waiting to learn the full extent of the injury, with big games on the horizon against Spurs on Sunday, Bayern Munich in the Champions League next Wednesday and then Chelsea on November 30.
Potential return date: Unknown
Kai Havertz
Kai Havertz is closing in on a comeback after nearly three months out.
Havertz has not played since the opening weekend of the season because of a knee injury.
The German underwent surgery but he is one of a number of players who Arteta hopes to have back after the international break.
“[It will be] a huge boost for the squad to have those players available again after such a long, long time,” said Arteta recently. “Really happy that I think it is going to be very soon.”
Potential return date: November 23, 2025 vs Tottenham (h)
Martin Odegaard
Martin Odegaard has not played for Arsenal since suffering a knee injury against West Ham on October 4.
That followed a frustrating few months in which Odegaard struggled with shoulder issues.
Arsenal had hoped their captain would be back after the international break but Norway boss Stale Solbakken has said he is still “some distance away” from a return.
“It is steady,” Solbakken said of Odegaard’s injury recovery last week. “It is going in a steady direction but he is some distance away.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Noni Madueke
Noni Madueke is nearing a return after nearly two months out with a knee injury.
Madueke was injured against Manchester City on September 21 but scans showed the £48million signing from Chelsea had not suffered an ACL injury.
He is among the players who Arteta said could be back to face Spurs.
Potential return date: November 23, 2025 vs Tottenham (h)
Gabriel Martinelli
Gabriel Martinelli has been out since suffering an injury against Crystal Palace on October 26.
He has missed the last four Arsenal games and was left out of the Brazil squad, but he could also return after the international break.
Potential return date: November 23, 2025 vs Tottenham (h)
Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus is back in training after nearly a year out with a knee injury.
The Brazilian is stepping up his recovery and appears to be closing in on a return.
