Liverpool fans react to ‘very significant’ Antoine Semenyo transfer news from trusted source

Liverpool have learnt of a major development surrounding transfer target Antoine Semenyo, which has also caught the attention of their supporters.

Semenyo could be a Salah replacement at Liverpool, with Newcastle winger Antony Gordon also being looked at.

Arne Slot spent heavily in the summer transfer window, but Luis Diaz’s departure from Liverpool to Bayern Munich has left a void on the flanks.

Semenyo has enjoyed a fine season for Bournemouth so far, including netting a double over Liverpool at Anfield on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Antoine Semenyo release clause details emerge

Semenyo is “annoyed” about reports saying he has asked to leave Bournemouth, but upon signing a new contract with the Cherries in July, the 25-year-old now has a release clause inserted into the deal.

David Ornstein, [17 November], broke the news on X, posting: “Bournemouth may be powerless to prevent Antoine Semenyo sale in January.

“Contract includes £65m release clause – available to all clubs but must be triggered by set date so Bournemouth get time to replace. Applies again in summer at lower price.”

Some Liverpool supporters believe the club need to be snapping Semenyo up at that price, whilst others believe Slot should be focusing on bolstering his defence rather than his attack.

Very significant when you think of how Liverpool operate and knowing we didnt replace Diaz in the summer. If LFC were confident of getting Semenyo 6-12 months later for a discounted fee we know they’ll play the long game. Chiesa was expected to leave then was suddenly not aswell

Very good price in today’s market, Liverpool will want to beat a number of clubs to the signing, hence why he’s such a priority regardless of whether we need other positions too https://t.co/DPeB9MafoR

We are in dying need of a centre back and defensive midfielder but let’s add another LHS bias attacking minded player to our team https://t.co/wtWdbE0kkG pic.twitter.com/D0iGdah5pm
