Shock Name ‘Emerges’ as Contender to Replace Arne Slot After PSV Defeat
A shock name has reportedly emerged as a potential candidate to replace Arne Slot as Liverpool boss.
On Wednesday night, the Reds produced yet another horrifying performance at Anfield as they were convincingly beaten by Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League.
Goals from Ivan Perisic and Guus Til, plus a brace from Couhaib Driouech, secured a famous 4-1 win for Peter Bosz’s side. Dominik Szoboszlai was the scorer for Liverpool.
The defeat against PSV meant Liverpool have now lost three matches in a row, having lost 3-0 against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City.
With Liverpool 12th in the Premier League and 13th in the Champions League, the pressure is really starting to ramp up on Slot.
While the likes of Xabi Alonso, Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner have often been linked with a move to Anfield, a shock name has now emerged.

According to TEAMtalk, former Tottenham Hotspur and Forest boss Ange Postecoglou could be a potential target for Liverpool if they decide to part ways with Slot.
It has been claimed that Postecoglou, who was sacked by Forest this season, ‘is someone the Liverpool board admire massively and he would be seen as someone who would suit the club’.
The report added that the Australian’s awful stint at the City Ground ‘has not dampened Liverpool’s admiration for him’.
When speaking about Slot’s future, a source told the publication: “[Is he in danger?] Yeah and no – he’s under pressure, but it’s not as black and white as some say. We’re going through a hard time. Everyone knew there would be a downturn at some point after Jurgen. We’re entering a new cycle – new head coach, new staff, younger squad profile. That was always part of the plan.
“Three or four more bad results and the conversation changes completely. But there is more leeway than people outside think. We don’t sack managers easily at Liverpool. The owners hate knee-jerk decisions and FSG still see this as year zero of a multi-year project.”
What has Arne Slot said about his future?
After the defeat by PSV, Slot was asked whether he feels his job is in danger.
He said: “I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from above.
“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked. I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”
Liverpool are back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
