BARCELONANico Williams’s agents explain why Athletic Club star didn’t leave for Barcelona
Athletic Club forward Nico Williams was at the center of transfer speculation this summer, with Barcelona keen on bringing the Spain international to Camp Nou. However, Williams ultimately decided to stay with Athletic Club for the 2024-25 season
“The lad has had an incredible year and has confirmed it, for me, by being the best player in the European Championships,” Félix Tainta and Juan Oyaga told AS.
“Obviously we have had a lot of movement, a lot of travelling and being happy. It is compressed into a very short time, and at the end of the transfer window we are a bit stressed, but we like it. The boy has decided to stay, he wanted to stay for another year and work.”
Williams will stay with Athletic for the 2024-25 season but the transfer saga may start up again next summer. There’s already been speculation that Barcelona will try to sign Nico again next year”.
According to his agents, the 21-year-old chose to remain in the Basque Country to spend another year with Athletic. Despite this decision, rumors suggest that Barcelona may reignite their pursuit of Williams next summer, setting the stage for another potential transfer saga.
