Real Madrid fans give up on one player after thrashing by Barcelona
Real Madrid supporters have singled out one player for blame following their disappointing loss to Barcelona.
On Saturday night, the season’s first El Clasico took place at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, where Madrid faced off against their long-time rivals, Barcelona.
Despite having star players like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham, Carlo Ancelotti’s squad experienced a night to forget. A double from Robert Lewandowski, along with goals from Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, secured an impressive 4-0 victory for Hansi Flick’s team.
Following this tough loss, Madrid fans appear to have lost patience with defender Ferland Mendy.
One supporter posted on social media: “Ferland Mendy is not a Madrid-level player. He panics with every ball.”
Another wrote: “Ferland Mendy… My head is spinning with anger. You are the worst player this club has ever seen.”
A third fan commented: “Ferland Mendy and Lucas Vasquez had an awful night. Our defense was unable to cope with the speed and movement of Yamal, Raphinha, and Lewandowski.”
Another person added: “Ferland Mendy is disgraceful. He isn’t suited to Madrid in any way.”
A fifth fan remarked: “Ferland Mendy is genuinely only good in FIFA.”
Yet another fan commented: “Mbappe & Ferland Mendy should sit out until further notice. Their performance was unacceptable. Let Endrick & Fran García get some playing time.”
With this victory, Barcelona increased their lead at the top of the La Liga table to six points.
Former Barcelona defender Albert Ferrer said on La Liga TV: “It’s hard to give a team a ’10,’ but Barcelona is very close. They’ve been exceptional in every way.
“They took risks and could have lost it in the first half with their runs’ timing, but overall, Barcelona has been much better than Real Madrid.”
He added: “For Real Madrid, it’s a painful loss, but it’s only one game, and they’ll still be contenders in everything.”
