Enzo Maresca Unhappy With Chelsea Man As Winless Run Continues
Chelsea’s struggles in the Premier League continued this weekend as they dropped more points with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The result extends their poor run of form to just two points from their last four league games.
The Blues initially took the lead in the first half through Cole Palmer, who scored his 13th goal of the league season. Jadon Sancho provided a moment of brilliance with a stunning assist for the goal. However, the effort wasn’t enough to secure all three points, as Crystal Palace equalized in the 82nd minute when Jean-Philippe Mateta tapped in from close range.
After the match, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca expressed his frustration with the team’s inability to capitalize on their chances and singled out striker Nicolas Jackson for failing to convert key opportunities.
“For a striker, sometimes they score all their chances, sometimes they don’t score,” Maresca said. “He had two or three clear chances today, so that means he is there and ready. Hopefully next time he can be more lucky.”
Maresca emphasized the importance of creating opportunities and highlighted the need for improvement in converting them.
“The important thing is to create chances because that means we are doing the right things, but then you need to take those chances. We try to be even more intense during the week when we are preparing the game, even if the intensity or intention is already top. It’s something we need to improve, even if we are one of the best teams at the moment in terms of scoring goals.”
Despite their position in the league table, Chelsea’s recent performances have raised concerns, with Maresca and his team under pressure to turn things around quickly.
