Liverpool fans lose patience with one player despite FA Cup victory over Accrington Stanley

On Saturday afternoon, Liverpool began their FA Cup campaign by hosting League Two side Accrington Stanley at Anfield.
As expected, manager Arne Slot made several changes to the starting lineup, though key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Diogo Jota retained their spots. The Reds controlled the game early on, taking the lead in the 29th minute with a goal from Jota. Just before halftime, Alexander-Arnold doubled the advantage with a spectacular strike, making it 2-0.
In the second half, Accrington Stanley showed some improvement, with Josh Woods coming close to scoring as his effort hit the woodwork. However, Liverpool sealed the victory in the 76th minute when substitute Jayden Danns scored from close range to make it 3-0. Federico Chiesa then added a fourth goal late in the game, marking his first for the club.

Despite the comfortable win, Darwin Nunez’s performance drew criticism from fans on social media. Many expressed frustration with the forward’s display, with one fan remarking, “Darwin Nunez isn’t good enough for this team.” Another added, “Nunez can’t even trap a ball against a League Two side.” Others echoed similar sentiments, labeling his performance as disappointing.
Additionally, during the first half, fans noticed Harvey Elliott showing visible frustration with Nunez for failing to pass to him when he was in a good position during an attack. One fan commented, “Nunez shoots into a crowd of players while Elliott is open to his right. Elliott’s reaction says it all.”
However, Nunez did manage to provide the assist for Jota’s opening goal, offering a silver lining to an otherwise challenging afternoon for the striker.
Liverpool now shifts their focus back to the Premier League, where they will face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday night.
