đď¸đĽBREAKING NEWS: âDion Dublin Blasts Onanaâs âAwful Mistakeâ as Brighton Punish Manchester United Again!â

Former Premier League striker Dion Dublin believes Manchester United goalkeeper AndrĂŠ Onana will feel deeply embarrassed following his costly mistake in Sundayâs 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. Onanaâs error gifted Brighton their third goal, effectively sealing their victory.
Dublin, commentating for BBC Radio 5 Live during the game, described the mistake as âterribleâ and criticized Onana for making such an error in a situation that posed no significant threat. Dublin remarked:
âAn awful mistake from AndrĂŠ Onana. He wonât want to watch that back. Thereâs no one around him, no real danger! He just needs to collect the ball calmly. Deary me!â
The incident occurred in the 76th minute with Brighton already leading 2-1. Onana mishandled a straightforward cross from Yasin Ayari, fumbling it directly to Brighton substitute Georginio Rutter, who scored easily from close range. The error ended any hopes Manchester United had of staging a comeback.
This latest mistake adds to Onanaâs recent struggles, with many fans now questioning his position as the teamâs first-choice goalkeeper. Turkish backup Altay Bayindir, who impressed during an FA Cup penalty shootout victory over Arsenal, is waiting in the wings. Manager Ruben Amorim may now face a difficult decision about whether to bench Onana in favor of Bayindir for upcoming matches.
This defeat marks Manchester Unitedâs second loss to Brighton this season, following a setback in August. Overall, the Red Devils have lost six of their last nine games in all competitions, deepening concerns about their form.
Brighton got off to a flying start, opening the scoring in the 5th minute when Yankuba Minteh converted a smart pass from Kaoru Mitoma. Manchester United equalized in the 23rd minute with a Bruno Fernandes penalty, awarded after Carlos Baleba fouled Joshua Zirkzee following a poor pass from Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.
However, Brighton regained control in the second half. Mitoma scored at the far post after a well-placed cross from Minteh, putting the visitors ahead once again. Onanaâs error later allowed Rutter to secure Brightonâs victory with their third goal.
Brightonâs win at Old Trafford is their eighth in 16 Premier League meetings with Manchester United, highlighting their progress under manager Fabian HĂźrzeler. The Seagulls continue to establish themselves as serious competitors in the league.
Meanwhile, Manchester Unitedâs season continues to unravel. Poor form and costly mistakes, like Onanaâs, are mounting pressure on manager Ruben Amorim to find solutions quickly and reverse the teamâs fortunes.
