Chelsea fans demand Enzo Maresca drop player immediately after nightmare Man City defeat

The Blues took a third-minute lead through Noni Madueke after the England winger capitalised on an error from debutant Abdukodir Khusanov.

But City equalised before half-time through left-back Josko Gvardiol, before Erling Haaland made it 2-1 in the second half.

Phil Foden then capitalised on defensive indecision from Chelsea to run through and slot the ball beyond Robert Sanchez to make it 3-1 and seal victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.

But it was an earlier Sanchez error that Chelsea fans were left furious with – and they have called on manager Maresca to replace him for the Blues’ next fixture.

Prior to the second goal scored by City, the Spaniard ran out of his goal to intercept a long ball forward from opposite number Ederson.

But Sanchez then decided to backpedal towards his own goal once it became clear that Haaland would get there first.

The Chelsea shot-stopper was effectively left in no man’s land, allowing Haaland to take two touches inside before chipping the ball over Sanchez

While it was still an impressive finish from the Norwegian, Chelsea fans have demanded that Maresca makes a change between the sticks and introduces backup goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen to the starting XI.
