Liverpool supporters are urging the club to terminate the contract of one of their key players.

In recent months, Liverpool has faced a string of unfortunate injuries, but it appears that supporters have grown frustrated with one player in particular.

Fans were initially astounded when Liverpool secured the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich in 2020, especially considering his acquisition cost just £20 million.

Thiago, widely acclaimed as one of the premier midfielders globally, has earned admiration from none other than Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Nevertheless, since joining Anfield, the midfielder has been besieged by injuries, grappling with various issues including his hamstrings, knees, calves, and hips.

On Sunday, Thiago finally made his much-anticipated comeback after being sidelined for over nine months due to a hip injury.

He entered the pitch as a substitute for the final five minutes of Liverpool’s 3-1 Premier League defeat against Arsenal. However, it seems that he has encountered yet another setback on the injury front.

Following his brief appearance, the 32-year-old experienced muscle discomfort and is now poised for another stint on the sidelines as he undergoes treatment.

While Thiago’s contract is due to expire in the summer, a faction of Liverpool fans has reached their breaking point and is advocating for his immediate release.

“Get rid of him ASAP,” one fan reacted to the news on X, formerly Twitter, while another said: “And people last week said we should give him a new contract. Get him gone asap.”

A critical fan expressed dissatisfaction with Liverpool’s patience towards the player, stating, “Should have gotten rid of this chronic injury-prone player since last summer.”

However, a sympathetic supporter conveyed affection for the player but suggested against renewing his contract, while another fan speculated, “Nah, he’s just trolling us now.”

It is widely anticipated that Thiago will part ways with Liverpool when his existing contract concludes at the end of the season.
