Following the release of a widely shared film featuring Xabi Alonso’s tactical skill against Bayern Munich, Liverpool supporters are pushing for the hiring of Alonso as the team’s new manager. On Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern played the much awaited encounter, with Leverkusen looking to increase their lead in the Bundesliga. Alonso’s team played brilliantly in front of a crowded BayArena, winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Alex Grimaldo, Jeremie Frimpong, and Josip Stanisic.
Liverpool supporters have been keeping a close eye on Leverkusen, where former Reds midfielder Alonso presently coaches, because Jurgen Klopp is expected to leave at the end of the current campaign. According to bookmakers, Alonso has emerged as the front-runner to replace Klopp. Following Leverkusen’s thrilling victory over Bayern, fans became even more impatient and demanded that Alonso be appointed.
A viral film that was going around on social media, especially on X (now Twitter), increased people’s enthusiasm for Alonso even more. The footage showed off Leverkusen’s tactical prowess under Alonso’s leadership, especially in destroying Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern team. Supporters of Alonso’s prospective return to Liverpool voiced their enthusiasm and encouragement, with many calling on the team to do so.
The feeling among Liverpool supporters is that they really want Alonso to take over at Anfield because of his exceptional coaching abilities and his illustrious playing career. With rumours about Klopp’s replacement still rife, Alonso’s name has surfaced as a strong contender, thrilling and thrilling the supporters.
