The Barcelona Club won a great victory over Valencia at the Mystaya Stadium (0-5), thus ensuring its place in the semi-finals of the King of Spain Cup. But far from the result, there were clear messages from coach Hansi Flick through his squad and tactical decisions.

Barcelona is waiting to face one of the three golden square in the King’s Cup, which includes Real Madrid, Attico Madrid and Real Sociedad, and the lottery will be held on the twelfth of this month.

According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional ”, the most prominent of these messages was the complete absence of Ronald Araujo, who did not participate in the match even for one minute despite its importance.

The German coach chose the defense with a duo consisting of Bao Coparsi and Eric Garcia, two players who are completely different from Araujo in terms of characteristics. Coparsi became a key player for Flick, while Eric Garcia managed to persuade the coach of his ability to control the ball and defensive positioning.

The exclusion of Araujo from the squad was not just a coincidence. In the second half, after resolving the result, Flick made changes to the defensive line, but instead of engaging Araujo, he preferred to use Enigo Martinez, who had recently recovered from the injury. These changes put three players in front of Araujo, in a clear indication that his role in the team has changed dramatically.

A while ago, Araujo gradually began to lose his place in the Flick collection. Although he is still considered a first-class defender and very popular with the masses, the coach prefers players who better fit his playing style. Coparsi has become a key ingredient, while Eric Garcia improves the distribution of the ball, and Enigo Martinez gives his experience and toughness defensive, making him a favorite choice for the coach.

This situation opened the door to rumors about the departure of Araujo in the summer transportation market. Araujo is among the most valuable defenders on the team, and Premier League clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as Bayern Munich, have shown interest in including it.

Deco, the contract manager in Barcelona, is also monitoring the offers available, as the club will need financial resources and the sale of Araujo for 60-70 million euros will be an important step in organizing the club’s financial accounts.

But Flick’s decision not to trust Araujo is due to the coach’s favorite style of play, as he sees building an attack from defense as essential. In this context, Araujo is the least suitable player available for this role, as Coparsi shows remarkable maturity despite his young age, and Eric Garcia offers a better distribution of the ball, while Enigo Martinez provides defensive stiffness and outstanding experience.

Overall, Flick seems to have made a decisive decision: Araujo has lost his place in the core squad, and at the moment, there are three players who outperform him in the core squad of the team.
