LIVERPOOL SCOUTS SENT TO WATCH TWO PLAYERS ON SUNDAY; ONE OF THEM PRODUCED AN INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE – REPORT

Liverpool are reportedly among multiple Premier League clubs to have dispatched scouts to the Eredivisie clash between PSV Eindhoven and Ajax on Sunday.

According to 90min, a delegation from the Reds – along with Manchester United and Arsenal – were at the Philips Stadium to watch the home side thrash their Amsterdam rivals 3-0, with Ibrahim Sangare and Jurrien Timber the players being scouted.

The former, who has a €37 million (£32.7 million) release clause, is thought to be eager to try his luck in the English premier league, while the latter gained notoriety over the weekend for criticising his colleagues in his post-match remarks.

The Ajax defender stated to ESPN (via 90min): “We simply weren’t prepared for today.” incredibly irritating. You said it quite nicely—painful and unpleasant.

“You have to demonstrate it on the pitch even though you can say a lot. That is not what we did. When you can’t get into the game, the balls don’t go in, and you give up goals too easy, it’s annoying.

“I think everyone takes a good look at themselves. You try to cheer each other up, but that is sometimes frustrating, yes. You try to address boys and keep their spirits up.”

Sangare undoubtedly pleased Liverpool’s scouts more than Timber did, based on what they saw in Eindhoven.

The Ajax defender received a dismal 6.2 match rating from Sofascore, while the PSV midfielder received a 7.2. Both players’ individual performances were indicative of the way their respective teams performed.

Sangare won five duels, created one “big chance” for his team, and was almost perfect with his distribution, finding a teammate with 33 of his 34 passes.

In addition to being accurate with 60 of his 69 passes attempted, Timber was also a reliable passer; nonetheless, he dropped six of his ten duels, failed to win a tackle for the entire game, and lost possession 11 times

Last week, there were rumours that the girlfriend of the Netherlands international was looking for a house on Merseyside, which naturally led to rumours about a possible transfer to Liverpool.

Next Saturday, when Ajax and PSV meet in the KNVB Beker final (the Dutch version of the FA Cup), the Reds scouting staff will get another opportunity to see the two players in person.
