🚨Exclusive: Real Madrid set to table £25m bid for Ibrahima Konate

Real Madrid could attempt to sign Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate for a cut-price fee of around £25 million during this summer’s transfer window.

Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke shared what sources have said about the 26-year-old’s potential departure from Anfield. Xabi Alonso’s team have been long-time admirers of Konate, who is in the final year of his contract, and are reportedly ready to challenge Liverpool’s stance with a low offer.

However, Liverpool are said to value Konate at £40 million and are unwilling to part ways with him either this summer or next. Instead, Real Madrid are reportedly planning to wait and secure the French centre-back on a free transfer in 2026—similar to how they signed Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Back in May, Football Insider reported that Real Madrid held a strong interest in Konate following their acquisition of Alexander-Arnold. In response, Liverpool made extending Konate’s contract a top priority, with new sporting director Richard Hughes leading negotiations. Talks are expected to ramp up in the coming weeks as the club aims to avoid losing another key player without compensation.
