Liverpool and Manchester United are competing to sign “prodigy” Kennet Eichhorn from Hertha Berlin. The race for this young European talent has heated up, as both clubs have entered the contest to secure the signature of Eichhorn — the emerging “rough diamond” of Hertha Berlin, currently valued at around £17 million.

At only 16 years old, Eichhorn has become a phenomenon in Germany after being given his first-team debut this season by coach Stefan Leitl. Although initially just a replacement option due to the injuries of senior players, this defensive midfielder quickly proved his caliber and secured a spot in the starting XI, making eight appearances in Germany’s 2nd division so far this season.

Eichhorn is being targeted by European giants.

Eichhorn’s mature performances have caught the eye of many major European clubs. According to the German daily Bild and Spain’s Mundo Deportivo, Hertha Berlin are ready to listen to offers of around £17 million for the player.

Beyond the two English Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United, clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint‑Germain, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen have sent scouts to observe Eichhorn playing at the Olympiastadion.

In England, not only Liverpool and Manchester United, but also Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly conducting detailed evaluations of the German talent. Sources say representatives from several Premier League clubs have regularly been present in the stands during Hertha matches.

Eichhorn is highly regarded for his professional abilities.

Eichhorn is described as a central midfielder with sharp tactical thinking, the ability to read the game and control the pace of matches — qualities that have drawn comparisons with Toni Kroos. His coach Stefan Leitl did not hide his confidence: “I’m not concerned whether he’s 16 or 17. Eichhorn is a big talent of Hertha. In many situations, it’s clear that he will become a very special player in the future.”

Eichhorn recently extended his contract with Hertha in July, but his impressive performances make it difficult for the Berlin club to keep hold of him amid widespread interest from all over Europe. With his early blossoming and outstanding development potential, Kennet Eichhorn is becoming one of the most sought-after names in Germany.
