Jurgen Klopp admits he ‘broke his promise’ during Liverpool’s comeback win vs Luton
During Liverpool’s victory over Luton Town on Wednesday night, Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that he had betrayed his word.
Liverpool hosted Luton to Anfield on Wednesday night in an attempt to increase their advantage over the rest of the Premier League before Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley against Chelsea.
The Luton player Chiedozie Ogbene’s goal in the 12th minute of the first half took the Reds by surprise.
But in the second half, Liverpool took control as goals from Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Virgil van Dijk completed a 4-1 comeback triumph.
After the game, Klopp disclosed that he had broken a pledge he had made to the team during the halftime meeting.
“This is one of those nights where it’s hard to stop talking,” he remarked. I’m overjoyed. Nobody had any idea before the game how the guys would handle the task.
I’ll bring up this game a couple times from now on. I broke my pledge to my squad not to use the Barcelona game as an example, but I did so today because it was somewhat comparable despite so many players being out.
“That team ignored the fact who is missing, and I want us to ignore who is missing,” Klopp continued. That is challenging. When I learned about all the injuries, it took me a few minutes to digest it all, but now that I know how to handle it, I feel great.
“That’s where this is now. Barcelona. Now let’s go after Luton. Although there are many reasons to give up, all I witnessed was a fantastic group fighting. I felt alright as long as you don’t confine yourself to negative ideas. Whoa, it was a thunderstorm in the second half.
“I am aware that you frequently make news (for the initial response). It also took some getting accustomed to for all of us. The previous pass was not good, as we knew.
