BREAKING NEWS: Tottenham hits with a huge points deduction over their illegal tactics used against Man United- The Reds have been fully compensated after latest VAR review shows Two big error in the match
Alan Shearer has criticised both Manchester United and Tottenham for a “poor” match that was “lacking quality”. The two teams clashed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon, resulting in a thrilling draw.
United’s Bryan Mbeumo put his team ahead in the first half, with Mathys Tel and Richarlison seemingly securing a win for Spurs towards the end. However, Matthijs de Ligt’s superb stoppage time header ensured the points were shared.
Despite the excitement, Shearer was unimpressed by both teams’ performances, reports the Mirror. Speaking on Match of the Day, the ex-Newcastle player stated: “A draw was probably a fair result in the end. But the standard of football was pretty poor for both teams.

“The substitutes made a difference for Spurs but not for Manchester United. The visitors going down to 10 men after Benjamin Sesko’s injury definitely didn’t help.
“But the quality was lacking, especially for two sides that could have gone second in the league if they had won today.”
Following the final whistle, Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim gave his thoughts on the match, suggesting his team should have clinched the win. He said: “During the game we felt like the three points were there to take home.
“But then with everything that happened, Harry Maguire and Casemiro coming off and conceding two goals… we scored again and it’s a point.
“When you cannot win you don’t lose, once again we did that. We have so much to grow as a team, because today was our day to win this game.
“We need to look at ourselves, we were not pressing with the same intensity, we felt comfortable but we need to understand that if we had more bravery we kill the game. But sometimes this happens, you have a better first half than second. We believe in our capacity to score goals until the last minute.”
Saturday’s stalemate sees Tottenham go into the November international break in fifth place. United, meanwhile, find themselves in eighth position after bouncing back from their disappointing campaign start.
Amorim’s men return to action in a fortnight when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford. Spurs face a mouth-watering North London Derby away to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next time out.
