Not just money — Man United pull out their special play to bring Semenyo to Old Trafford
Man Utd pursue Antoine Semenyo for £65 million, ready to give him his favourite shirt number
Manchester United are planning to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo in the January 2026 transfer window.
To convince the rising Ghanaian star — who is attracting interest from several top European clubs — United are reportedly willing to hand him his favourite shirt number, 24.
That number is currently held by goalkeeper Andre Onana, but since he is on loan at Trabzonspor until the end of the season, the club can immediately reassign it to Semenyo if the transfer goes through.
This season, the 25-year-old has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in the Premier League, further fuelling rumours of a potential mid-season move to Old Trafford.

Antoine Semenyo is attracting/drawing a lot of interest from many clubs.
When Semenyo renewed his contract with Bournemouth in the summer (running until 2030), he included a £65 million release clause — meaning any club that meets the fee can secure his signature.
While that valuation is considered reasonable for financially strong clubs, it remains uncertain whether United will spend heavily again, especially after already investing around £200 million earlier this summer on players such as Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.
Semenyo is admired for his versatility, capable of playing across multiple attacking roles, including as a number 10.
If United succeed in bringing him in, they would also avoid the risk of losing him to international duty during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as Ghana failed to qualify for the tournament.
