While Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea aim to perfect their squads for the title race, Manchester United’s ambition this season is more realistic: to gradually return to European competition spots.

Despite a difficult start that put manager Ruben Amorim’s future in doubt, the team has transformed significantly following the international break in October. With only one defeat in their last seven matches, Man Utd has climbed to seventh place, just three points behind the Champions League spots.

In the summer of 2025, Man Utd spent over £200 million to strengthen their attack with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and signed goalkeeper Senne Lammens. Amorim is reportedly looking to improve the wing-back position for his 3-4-3 system. According to revelations from journalist Florian Plettenberg, Man Utd has entered the race against Real Madrid and Barcelona to sign Nathaniel Brown – Eintracht Frankfurt’s left-back.

The 22-year-old German player, valued at approximately £50 million, is notable for his acceleration and crossing ability. Brown made his debut for the German national team in October and is highly likely to be included in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for the World Cup next summer.

Amorim has also admitted regret over failing to bring in a central midfielder during the summer. Mainoo’s lack of consistency, Casemiro’s age, and Manuel Ugarte’s unconvincing form make this position a top priority.

Gallagher is considered the most cost-effective option. Atletico Madrid is willing to listen to offers around €30 million – much lower than Baleba, Wharton, or Anderson.
