Jurgen Klopp reveals real reason why Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold haven’t signed new Liverpool contracts yet

‎The futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah are all in jeopardy due to Jurgen Klopp’s impending exit.

With less than 18 months remaining on each of the aforementioned important players’ contracts, Klopp’s announcement last Friday that he would be leaving Liverpool after nine years raised questions about their futures.

Despite this uncertainty, Klopp has downplayed rumours that his exit may cause Liverpool’s other star players to follow suit and leave the team.

The German’s contract predicament was clarified by Klopp, who stated that it would have been improper to sign players to long-term contracts before learning of the player’s future.

“The club knew about my departure for a while. Why tie the players down and then I say I’m not here anymore? You don’t do business like that,” Klopp told the media.

“They want to know a little bit more, that is absolutely normal. Things need time. People at home, don’t worry. It’s fine. The boys love this place. I know that for a fact.”

“No, I don’t think so. It’s completely normal. It’s clear the outside world will not give you a second to process. A week ago no one knew about my situation,” The 56-year-old explained.

“Still 18 months on their contracts and no one asked. No one has to worry.

“Write what you want, the club is stable. Everything will be fine, I’m 100% sure. I would recommend to stay calm.”

“Very often the fans’ concerns are not as big as you might think. You underestimate the intelligence of our supporters,” Klopp said

Even while Klopp is adamant that the three players in question are fixed, Van Dijk’s most recent remarks lend credence to the idea that a significant Anfield reorganisation may be in the works.

When asked if he saw himself playing a part in Liverpool’s new era following Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Manchester city in the premier  captain Van Dijk gave a concerning response, as reported by The Times: “That’s a big question, Well, I don’t know.”

Klopp attempted to allay concerns regarding Van Dijk’s remarks during today’s news conference, despite the Dutchman’s unsettling answer: “Virgil didn’t go out and say it, it’s always about the questions.” This type of question needs to be answered all the time. Write anything you like; this club is 100% reliable. I have no doubt that everything will work out.”
