Raheem Sterling breaks silence after Chelsea fans booed him in FA Cup quarter-final win

After being jeered by Chelsea supporters during an FA Cup quarterfinal victory against Leicester City, Raheem Sterling promised to come back “ten times stronger.”

With a 4-2 victory over the Championship leaders at Stamford Bridge this afternoon, the Blues secured their spot at Wembley.

Before Sterling triumphed, Marc Cucurella gave the home team the lead. He then collected a penalty and sent it weakly at Leicester custodian Jakub Stolarczyk.

After that, Sterling atoned for his error by setting Cole Palmer up to double Chelsea’s lead just before halftime.

After the interval, though, the Foxes rallied to draw even.

First, Enzo Maresca’s team tied the score with an own goal from Axel Disasi, and then Stephy Mavididi equalised the score with a brilliant strike.

With 17 minutes remaining in normal time, Leicester defender Callum Doyle was sent off, reducing the visitors to 10 men, which marked a significant turning point.

Additionally, Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke, two replacements, scored goals in injury time to guarantee Chelsea’s spot in the semi-finals and a trip to Wembley.

Throughout the match, Chelsea supporters expressed their disapproval of Pochettino by yelling “you don’t know what you’re doing” at him after he substituted Mykhailo Mudryk in the second half.

Additionally, Sterling was the target of their attentions as fans seemed to jeer him following his spectacular free-kick over the bar.

After a challenging match, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has promised to support the former Manchester City and Liverpool player.

In the afternoon, Sterling took to Instagram to express his regret for missing his penalty and his promise to come back “ten times stronger” to support the London team.

As he wrote: “Wembley” I apologise to all of the Chelsea supporters for the missed penalty.

“I’ll be back ten times stronger to support the team’s victory and to never give up on the badge. Come on, Blues!”

And it’s evident that Sterling has the support of his teammates because a number of them left supportive comments on his post.

Goalscorer Palmer wrote: “My brother. S**t happens no need to apologise gg.”

Fellow goalscorer Madueke said: “Bro no need to apologise.. we appreciate you g.”

And defender Ben Chilwell added: “It’s football, it happens. We all appreciate you brother.
