Liverpool star Mo Salah’s future becomes clear as major Saudi Pro League decision made

According to reports, Mohamed Salah, a top player for Liverpool, is closer to joining the Saudi Pro League as a result of ongoing rumours.

In August, the Saudi Pro League, eager to sign Salah for Al Ittihad, made a bid on the final day of the deadline.

Liverpool officials rejected the offer, which was said to be worth about £200 million, because they did not want to sell the Egyptian and would not have had time to find a replacement.

After that, rumours circulated that if Liverpool did not challenge for the Premier League title, the Saudi Pro League would make another attempt to get Salah in January. However, that turned out not to be the case.

The Reds must decide whether to cash in on one of their best players of the Premier League era or try to persuade the 31-year-old to accept new terms as he approaches the last 12 months of his contract this summer.

However, Liverpool may have gotten a significant boost in their attempts to keep Salah at Anfield, as they will split ways with manager Jurgen Klopp at the end of the current campaign.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Saudi Arabian clubs have decided to curtail their summer spending, as the Kingdom is’making measures to decrease losses and develop a more viable local transfer market’ Instead.

The Saudi Pro League reportedly made just $15.7 million from outgoing transfers last season, compared to $875 million from players that arrived from overseas leagues, which is cited as a major contributing factor in this.

“The deals were not signed for just one season, so it is imperative to the clubs to try to act; they will have to offload players to free up some budget to be able to buy new ones,” Saudi Pro League COO Carlo Nohra told Bloomberg.

On improvements to football facilities in Saudi Arabia, he continued: “Making consumer experience a better experience is part of the transformation strategy, but nothing is going to change overnight, especially with the kind of facilities we have at the moment.”
