Mo Salah called a stop to Alexis Mac Allister’s pre-match habit 13 games into his Liverpool career

Despite doing it before every game at Brighton, Alexis Mac Allister has confessed that Mo Salah forced him to break a pre-match practice early in his Liverpool tenure.

Mac Allister, who reportedly paid £35 million to join Liverpool from Brighton in the summer, has been a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield this year.

With 10 goals for Brighton last season—a team that made its first-ever trip to Europe—the Argentine solidified his status as one of the League’s best midfielders.

With just three goals this season, the World Cup winner’s attacking productivity has decreased since moving to Anfield; nevertheless, Klopp has used the 26-year-old further deeper than he has in the past.

After just 13 games at the club, Mac Allister revealed in a recent interview with Liverpool that he had to give up a pre-match ritual because Salah didn’t like it.

The main focus of the controversy was Mac Allister’s attire, since he preferred to exercise and warm up in training trousers instead of his match shorts.

The midfield player disclosed in the interview that this was a custom that went back to his time at Brighton.

“I used to wear trousers when I was at Brighton, and then I came here,” Mac Allister remarked.

“I remember against Sheffield United we went out to do the warm-up and I was wearing a hat and trousers and Mo told me ‘What are you doing? Why would you wear that?’, so since that day I have never worn trousers again. Only because of Mo,” The Argentine continued.

With Liverpool trailing Arsenal just on goal differential, Mac Allister’s team is presently engaged in one of the most exciting and competitive title chases in Premier League history.

Mac Allister will be itching to add the Premier League to his collection after Argentina’s victory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, especially in light of Liverpool’s FA Cup elimination at the hands of Manchester United.
